What is detox?
What exactly is a detox? Simply put, a detox is a process by which a person makes lifestyle changes to rid their body of toxins. These lifestyle changes typically involve leaving out certain harmful things and optimizing body processes. Some changes are temporary, e.g. B. after a cleansing diet, others are permanent. To fully understand the process, let’s briefly explain the term “toxins”.
What are toxins?
Toxins are substances that are toxic or can have negative effects on health. “Toxin” refers to all metals, chemicals, pollutants, man-made food ingredients, pesticides and poisons that harm the body. “Toxin” is a very broad term and, unfortunately, even a catchphrase for some. Man-made chemicals can be toxins, but naturally occurring substances can also be toxic. Arsenic is a natural poison. Technically, it is also cobra venom (although the likelihood is very low that it will contaminate the city’s water supply, for example).
We are in constant contact with harmful organisms and pollutants. They are in our water, in our food and in the air we breathe. It is very difficult to protect yourself from it. The cause of many health problems is the toxins that have built up in our bodies over the years. There is no practical way to protect yourself from all toxins in the environment.
Then we would have to spend the rest of our lives in a hermetically sealed suit. Fortunately, there are ways to counter some toxins and pollutants. Your body’s natural detoxification processes exist to deal with those we cannot avoid. You can help your body carry out these processes with regular cleansing.
First, let’s understand the natural ability to purify ourselves.
The body and the detoxification
The human body has a natural ability to detoxify itself. In fact, the body has several systems for eliminating waste. The excretory system plays the biggest role in detoxification. The main organs that make up the excretory system are the skin, liver, lungs, colon, and kidneys.
You might be surprised to learn that your skin is part of your excretory system, but it’s true – the skin helps with excretion through the sweat glands. The purpose of sweat is to regulate body temperature, but it is a multifunctional system. When sweat flows through your sweat glands, it takes toxins with it.
The other organs are just as important and play a huge role. It is the job of the liver to filter and remove waste, hormones, drugs and other foreign substances. The lungs help remove carbon dioxide (the exhaust gas produced by breathing). The large intestine has several important functions. It absorbs water and remaining nutrients from food. It also converts waste into stool, which is expelled from the body through defecation. The kidneys filter the blood and help remove waste from the body through urination. The entire body relies on this system to lead a healthy life. Your body detoxifies itself all the time, around the clock. Even your brain flushes out toxins while you sleep. It is important to take care of these organs and allow them to do their job.
Homemade detox drinks
We are exposed to environmental pollutants, preservatives, heavy metals, pesticides and cancer-causing chemicals on a daily basis. We inhale, gobble or come into contact with these toxins and they are stored in the tissues and cells of our body. Many of these toxins have shown deleterious effects on cancer, reproduction, metabolism, and mental health. Detox drinks help us avoid toxic overload before it becomes a major health problem.
Some signs of toxic overload are:
- Constipation
- Flatulence
- Gas
- headache
- tire
- Discomfort and pain
- Nausea
- Belly fat
- Skin problems
- Cravings
- little energy
- bad breath
- Mood swings
5 main benefits of detox drinks
- Remove toxins from your body (and cleanse your liver)
Environmental toxins, pesticides, heavy metals and chemicals are stored in our tissues and cells. This affects the functioning of the immune system, our mood, metabolism and our ability to fight diseases. In fact, symptoms of poor health in individuals free from diagnosed disease may also be related to toxin build-up.
A study published in Alternative Therapy in Health and Medicine in 2000 investigated whether a seven-day detox program, such as a heavy metals detox, could improve well-being and improve the activity of the liver’s detoxification pathways. As a result of detoxification, there was a 23 percent increase in liver detoxification capacity and an increase in urinary sulfate to cretinine ratio after treatment, suggesting a trend toward improved liver function.
- Reduce the letter ü ndung
If you cleanse the liver with a cleansing drink and give your digestive system a chance to rest with detox drinks and smoothies instead of heavy meals, you will reduce disease-causing inflammation and swelling in the body. Some detox drinks like watermelon, cucumber, strawberries, and ginger help reduce inflammation and relieve the digestive system.
- Help weight loss
Detox drinks can stimulate your metabolism and energy levels, and you will feel fresh and fit all day. Some fruits, like the nutritious grapefruit, even contain special enzymes that help the body use sugar, which stimulates metabolism and aids in weight loss.
A 2013 study published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine looked at the effects of a 21-day detox program. Seven participants adhered to a diet that included unlimited fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and at least 64 ounces of water per day. They were also allowed to consume complex carbohydrates and protein shakes throughout the program. As a result of the detox, the seven participants showed short-term weight loss (an average of 11.7 pounds) and improvements in their lipid profiles. Total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels decreased.
- F ö changes the health of the skin
By eliminating toxins from the body and reducing inflammation, detox drinks increase skin health and minimize the signs of aging. When the skin becomes clogged with pollutants and chemicals it leads to wrinkles, dryness, and other signs of aging. The strengthening of the skin’s own metabolic mechanisms with fruits and vegetables increases the shine of the skin. Many detox drink ingredients are often vitamin C foods that can also help slow aging and heal wounds by forming new scar tissue.
- Increases energy and mental alertness
The ingredients in a detox drink work together to reduce inflammation, cleanse the liver, and naturally increase energy levels. Without the toxic overload burdening you, you will feel lighter and refreshed than living with fatigue, mood swings, and brain fog. Ingredients like lemon, rosemary, and mint rejuvenate the body and can even improve mental alertness. These powerful foods will also help you restore hydration, especially after a workout or a busy day.

Detox smoothie recipes for a quick weight loss
What is a detox smoothie?
A detox smoothie is an easy and tasty way to cleanse your body of toxins and it will help you lose weight quickly. They usually contain fresh vegetables and fruits and can be prepared with an ordinary kitchen mixer or Vitamix machine.
The typical detox smoothie recipe is full of vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and other healthy nutrients that will give your body a detoxifying effect. They also contain large amounts of water that will help hydrate your body and increase your metabolism.
The idea here is to flood your system with clean food, eat like we did as hunters and gatherers … well, with blenders at least. There are ingredients like nuts, vegetables and fruits are key.
Eating this way not only resets your system, but your taste too! After 3 days you will start eating healthier foods and when you eat fried foods you will feel sluggish and bloated. Listen to your body, it will tell you what it wants to eat after 30-60 minutes after eating.
If you despise something “green”, try baby spinach in all of your weight loss smoothies, it has virtually no flavor and will of course boost your metabolism. You won’t even know it’s in your smoothie, all you taste is the fruit. Once you get used to the spinach, try swapping half of it out for kale or Swiss chard, adding more of the new greens and less spinach until your taste buds start enjoying your new food.
Detox smoothies are a powerful weight loss tool that you can (and should) use every day. To make the best detox smoothies as easy as possible, buy a good smoothie blender.
3 day smoothie cleansing
A 3-day smoothie cleanup is easier than it sounds. Just enjoy 2 green detox smoothies a day and a healthy meal, drink a gallon of water (yes, you can add the water in the smoothies as part), and avoid processed foods and white flour.
To make your 3-day smoothie cleaning easier, the two meals that you normally eat the least should be replaced with smoothies. So if you often skip breakfast, then eat a heavy lunch and a light dinner, then you should have a smoothie for breakfast and dinner and a healthy meal for lunch.
Your healthy meal should consist of 70 percent vegetables and a lean protein. Maybe chicken, lettuce or a steak with a baked potato and grilled vegetables are good examples … Just skip the white carbohydrates (white rice, white bread, white pasta) or you can use carbohydrates such as brown rice, wholemeal bread and decide whether you want wheat or vegetarian pasta.
Oh and P.S. While doing this 3-day smoothie cleanse, you can eat any raw fruits and vegetables you like, but make sure you use them in an even mix. So if you use a bowl of berries, you should also consume some sliced cucumber with it.
Detox smoothie recipes
A basic detox smoothie recipe includes some types of leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach or Swiss chard, along with some types of fruits like bananas, berries, apples or pineapples. Water, ice, unsweetened almond milk or coconut water are often added to the smoothie to dilute it and make it easier to mix.
Other common detox smoothie ingredients are: yogurt, celery, lemons, limes, ginger, mango, cranberries, coriander, fennel, watermelon, almonds (or almond butter), dandelion, green tea, watercress, arugula, wheatgrass, avocado, spirulina , and beets.
We encourage you to try different ingredients and find the ones that you especially like, because the goal is to drink these detox smoothies as often as possible.
Detox smoothie recipes are really easy to make:
Step 1 – add all the ingredients to the blender
Step 2 – Mix until smooth
Step 3 – enjoy
If you want to make the smoothie cold, you have two options:
- Freeze the fruit or buy frozen fruit.
- Add 1/2 cup of ice.
We recommend using fresh ingredients, but you can also use frozen fruits and vegetables if they are not fresh. Make sure that both the frozen and fresh products are organic. If you want to cleanse your body you shouldn’t add any more pesticides.
Three-day juice detox
What is juice cleanse?
A juice cleanse is a type of detox diet that involves consuming vegetables and fruit juice for a short period of time (usually one to three days). Some programs include one or more smoothies per day to provide protein, fat, and other nutrients for energy and curb hunger. Vegan meals and snacks are included in some plans.
According to proponents, a juice helps cleanse the body’s natural detoxification processes, clears the diet of sugar, caffeine, refined foods and other foods and substances that can consume energy, and brings healthier ways to eat.
Raw, organic juice is the key component of cleansing because of the nutrients, phytochemicals and antioxidants that are in an easily absorbable liquid form. Vegan, gluten-free meals and snacks may be included for those who need more energy, or you may be new to juice cleansing and want a less extreme experience first. Consultation with a doctor is recommended, especially for cleanings that last longer than a day or for people in a state of health. Juice cleansing can be done at home with a juicer or juicer.
The process:
Prepare for a Juice Cleanse – 1 to 5 Days Before You Begin: While it can be tempting to jump into a juice cleanse, preparation is essential. Certain foods such as coffee, refined sugar, meat, dairy products, wheat, alcohol, and nicotine are gradually eliminated to reduce headaches, cravings, and other withdrawal symptoms. It’s also important to increase your intake of fresh vegetables, fruits, and liquids during pre-cleaning.
3-day juice cleansing: During the actual cleansing days, at least 1 liter of juice or smoothie is usually suggested, with at least half of it being green vegetable juice.
This is a typical day on a three-day juice schnapps:
- After waking up: lukewarm water with a little lemon juice
- 8 am-9am: juice, like the green vegetable juice
- 10: 30-11: 30 a.m .: juice (or smoothie / healthy food)
- 1-2 o’clock: juice (or smoothie / healthy food)
- 3-4 a.m .: Juice such as beetroot, carrot, apple juice
- 5-6 a.m .: juice (or smoothie / healthy food)
- 6-8 a.m .: Smoothie or almond or cashew nut “milk”
Smoothies and vegan foods can be included or replaced in gentler juice cleansers. Room temperature or lukewarm water can be consumed between every juice or meal to encourage excretion.
To optimize nutrient absorption, juice cleansing advocates recommend drinking the juice slowly instead of swallowing it. The juice is usually consumed a few hours apart, with the last drink of the day being taken at least three hours before bedtime.
Fruits and vegetables that are used to make the juices often include celery, kale, carrots, cabbage, apple, spinach, beets, and leafy greens.
Avocados and bananas don’t smell good, and the dimples from peaches, apricots, cherries and other fruits, apple seeds, carrots and rhubarb tips, and tough skins from kiwi, pineapple and mangoes should be avoided. Organic products are best, but when they are not available, a fruit and vegetable wash (often available at health food stores) can help remove pesticide residue.
People often find it easiest to make the juice at the beginning or end of the day and enough for a full day. Although the juice should be consumed as close to the juicing as possible, the juice can be kept in covered glasses or BPA-free cups or bottles.
When hunger pangs are persistent or uncomfortable, vegetable broth or a small snack like carrots, celery, a salad, or a piece of fruit is often suggested. For certain people, a modified juice fast can be recommended, which includes a salad for lunch or dinner every day.
